General Shale’s corporate office building showcases many of their product shapes, colors, textures and styles along with the many different uses and installation patterns. On the interior, General Shale products were used as floor coverings, wall finishes, floor base moldings and one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. The main entrance features a 24’ radius exterior wall surrounded by six columns also set on a radius. Two additional outside building corners were also rounded to further accentuate the use of brick in applications other than a straight run. The building is designed around a three-story central atrium that serves as a centralized area of access to all departments and employee functions. The atrium features a custom designed suspended brick monumental stair connecting all three floors. A 30’ skylight at the top of the atrium allows natural day lighting for all. Custom fabricated three-dimensional brick sculptures built into wall panels highlight the brick manufacturing process.
