This project was procured through the Virginia PPEA provisions which allow for RFP on public projects and uses negotiated contracts and GMP with split savings.
This is a highly functional and cost effective single- story structure for approximately 730 students. It is situated adjacent to the elementary school and is part of a larger campus. The elementary school remained functional during the construction of this project The building provides space for a cafetorium, a high school size gymnasium with seating and concessions, a media center, a music room, an occupational / physical therapy area, speech rooms, computer labs, in-class restrooms for Pre-K and Special Ed classrooms, and a central courtyard with a playground.
The building is designed to allow common areas to be segregated and secured so that community events may occur during non-school hours. Modern safety and security features are included throughout inclusive of an operable classroom window for emergency exit.
